CHIEF Kaputa of the Tabwa people of Kaputa has finally established the long-awaited cassava milling plant in Kasama’s Citizens Economic Empowerment industrial yard. The traditional leader has since called on cassava farmers to supply the raw commodity to his company on a daily basis to enhance the production of cassava mealie-meal. Chief Kaputa said in an interview that the cassava milling plant which has been recently installed, will in future provide jobs for more than 200 workers and provide a ready market to over 3,000 smallholder cassava producers. The chief, who is a pioneer of the milling plant, said its establishment to meet the high demand for cassava products in the country.
The plant was set up with over US$150,000 funding from Musika Development Initiative
