The extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and wife, Mary, has resumed this morning at the Lilongwe Magistrate court.

Today, the court is expected to give it’s ruling on an application by the State to have witnesses record their evidence in South African citing logistical challenges.

Director of Public Prosecutions Dr. Steve Kayuni in his previous application argued that it was expensive to bring and accommodate the witnesses in Malawi.

However, defense lawyer Wapona Kita challenged the application arguing the issue was already dealt with by the same Court in its 8 June ruling where the Court decided that the reasons were not convincing enough, hence the court having already decided on the matter cannot revisit its own decision.

The Bushiris are wanted in South Africa, where they bolted from last year, on fraud allegations.
