Government plans to create around one million jobs in eight years through the US$6 billion Zambia Water Investment Programme expected to run from 2022 to 2030.

According to a report with the Zambia Daily Mail, the Zambia Water Investment Programme is scheduled to be launched by President Hakainde Hichilema on the sidelines of the African Union (AU) Summit next month, to be held here in Lusaka.

The programme, which is expected to leverage US$7.5bn investment in the water sector, has been developed by the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation and its stakeholders, who include the Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition (ZAWAFE), in collaboration with Global Water Partnership Southern Africa.
