SEED Control and Certification Institute (SCCI) has released 21 seed varieties on the market that are resilient to climate change.
The institute, which falls under the Ministry of Agriculture, conducts trials on seed varieties that are bound for release on the market.
Speaking when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Land and Natural Resources, institute director Francisco Miti said as the environment changes, there is need to produce seeds that are climate-resilient,this is according to a report in the Zambia Daily Mail.
“We have released 24 seeds on the market and 21 of them are resistant to climate change”.
