This afternoon went to the Chunga landfill in Matero constituency to show some love to the many people that try to make a living from the Dumpsite.
They sort solid waste tor any item that they can resale like plastic bottles.
Every garbage from all Lusaka homes, industries, offices, malls, markets and offices end up at this Matero landfil. Over years the garbage has accumulated into mountains. At any time over 100 women, men and children are present waiting and scrambling for trucks with newer waste.
Its a chaotic arena and indeed successful government have literally failed to deal with this health hazard for our people. All this bearing in mind that Councils in Zambia can do zero without Central Government consent and approvals.
I remain optimistic that the current Government might get the Dumpsite resolved with a permanent solution for our residents.
