LUSAKA youth Dillon Mayangwa has urged President Hakainde Hichilema not to be distracted by those who wish him to fail but concentrate on working for poor Zambians.

And Mayangwa says Zambia’s positive achievements of recruitment of over 40, 000 civil servants would result in an economic boost.

He said President Hichilema has demonstrated exemplary leadership with ordinary Zambians’ interest at heart.

“If we cannot appreciate on the positive steps made by the government, then I don’t know what some selfish individuals want. It’s very unfortunate that we have to remind well positioned and respected society leaders like Archbishop Telephore Mpundu on what government was doing and has achieved so far,” Mayangwa said.

“What President Hakainde Hichilema has achieved in one year is exceptional. Today Zambians have literally forgotten about load-shedding! Marketeers, bus drivers and town centre traders are enjoying the peace and freedom away from cadreism. The Kwacha is the world’s second best performing currency from being the worst performing currency a year ago, inflation rate has dropped from 25.6 per cent last year in August to 9.9 per cent within 10 months of Hakainde Hichilema’s presidency. Civil servants’ salaries increased by 12 per cent in February.”

He alleged that the rantings by some respected elderly people was a gimmick for them to get jobs for their relatives and friends.

“We expect a lot of rantings to come through from persons who thought change of government meant personal development and gratification like Archbishop Telephore Mpundu,” claimed Mayangwa.

“Please sir, with all due respect, as a country we are very happy with the direction our country is taking, and we really thank the driver President HH for focusing on the common man. We fully understand personal interests and expectations might not have been met or rather they are difficult to satisfy. But that doesn’t make the government a flop.”
