The current corrupt happenings in the census recruitment process leaves a very bad state in the mouth and portrays the UPND in bad light, that a ruling party is incapable of fighting its own corruption, Jackson Silavwe has said.

Leader of the opposition Golden Party of Zambia has reiterated the need for the cancellation of the current “chaotic” census recruitment process.

He said this in a statement issued to the media today.

“Government must cancel the current chaotic census recruitment process following the general outcry from citizens across the country. The arrest of the youth in Mazabuka today who want to hold the District Commissioner accountable (DC) is unjust,” he said.

“The current corrupt happenings in the census recruitment process leaves a very bad state in the mouth and portrays the UPND in bad light, that a ruling party is incapable of fighting its own corruption. The current census recruitment process lacks credibility.”

Mr Silavwe has urged government to postpone postponed the beginning of the actual census exercise by three to four weeks to pave way for a more credible and transparent selection process.

“It is to the sole advantage of President Hichilema and his administration to have a process that is transparent and acceptable to the majority applicants, citizens and stakeholders,” he said.
