The woman who has been living with a dead baby in her womb for the past three days, and whose predicament has been shared online, has been under observation by medical personnel at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) since June when she was discovered to have had multiple pregnancies, a caesarean operation and is diabetic.
According to Zambia Daily Mail, KTH senior medical superintendent Abidan Chansa explained in an interview that the woman, who was not in labour, went to the hospital on Tuesday around 19:30 hours with a complaint that she could no longer feel her baby’s movements.
“This is a patient we have followed up at this hospital because all the patients that we deem as risk pregnancies are reviewed at the hospital, not the clinics,” Dr Chansa said.
“Contrary to the reports that are circulating, she was admitted on Tuesday at 19:30, she came with a complaint that she cannot perceive fetal movements .
