KAFUE Council Chairperson Buumba Malambo on Friday launched her own empowerment initiative dubbed “taking Council to the community” where over 50 youth groups from across the district were empowered with various equipment.

Speaking during the launch held at Kafue Civic Centre, the visibly excited Dr Malambo said the initiative is aimed at enhancing the Constituency Development Fund and other empowerment programs that Government has put in place.

According to Kafue Times, Dr Malambo said her office came up with this empowerment program in a bid to improve the livelihood of youths in the community with capacity to venture into various businesses in form of start-up machinery and capital for businesses without getting loans from lending institutions.

She thanked all the stakeholders and corporating partners for supporting her initiative to empower Youths who form 70 % of the population in Kafue.

“This is the first time in the history of Kafue that we have overwhelming response with regard to Corporate Social Responsibility, an indication that the business community has great confidence in the current leadership at the Council” Dr Malambo said.

The items donated to the youths include a Pool table, sewing machines, Barbing machines, Car Washing machine and Popcorn making machines.

Others are Lawn mower, Bicycles Hair blower and cakes and cakes and cup cakes.
