MINISTER of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane says the International Monetary Fund (IMF) extended credit facility programme should not create fear in people because it will be implemented in critical sectors that will help stabilise the country’s economy.

According to Zambia Daily mail, Dr Musokotwane said the package from IMF will be utilised to revitalise education, improve the health sector and better the living standards of people in vulnerable communities.

“People should not be concerned at all, people should not fear at all that perhaps there are conditions that will make it difficult to live,” Dr Musokotwane told journalists yesterday.

“In fact, most of the things that we agreed together with the IMF team are things that we as a government feel should be done especially for the ordinary people, those who are most vulnerable,” the minister said.

“Even before the IMF programme came in, we were already doing these things. We are merely endorsing what we have already been doing .
