Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation Trevor Kaunda has said the New Dawn Administration is working on raising the level of financial inclusion in rural areas from 50% to 75%.
Mr Kaunda said by the end of this year, the Administration is also working on increasing the percentage of districts with at least one financial access point from the current 82% to 100%.
The Permanent Secretary said the initiative will foster financial inclusion by making available Government facilities in rural areas which financial service providers can leverage on in providing financial services.
He said this during a Bank of Zambia, Ministries of Finance and Health Dissemination Workshop of the Inspection Report on the use of the General Access Points for the Provision of Financial Services held in Lusaka today.
