A 75 year old man of Chikazika village , Chief Tembwe in Chama District of Eastern province has died after being attacked and killed by elephants.

Muchinga Deputy Commanding Officer Lucky Munkondya has confirmed the incident to ISO FM news this evening.

Ms Mukondya who identified the deceased as Lafi Zimba revealed that the matter was reported by a senior Wildlife officer that a man was attacked yesterday at Mulundola stream along Luangwa river.

“The deceased sustained a cut on the left buttock,broken right leg,depressed head and a cut on the left ankle,” she added.

Ms Munkondya says the now deceased was attacked on his way back home from fishing.

“On his way back at around 10:00 hours, he met a herd of elephants which charged at him and eventually killed him,” Ms Munkondya said.

The body has been conveyed to Chama District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination and an inquiry file has been opened.
