WHILE some teachers are willing to take the risk of sleeping in an open for a chance to be enlisted as a teacher at any location, some recruited teachers have refused to honour their appointment because they were deployed in a rural area.
ZNBC reports that some newly recruited teachers are allegedly refusing to report to their schools in rural parts of Livingstone.
Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia Livingstone chairperson, Samson Mumba says this is despite the teachers drawing salaries.
Mumba told ZNBC news in an interview that some teachers do not want to work at schools in villages.
He said the union will not protect any teacher, who will be found wanting because pupils in the rural areas also need quality education just like those in urban areas.
