The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to inform its members and stakeholders that the Zambia Senior Women’s National Team will play Colombia in Cali next month in FIFA International Friendly matches.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the Copper Queens will play World Cup bound Colombia on November 12 and 15 at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali.
Kashala says the two matches will be part of Zambia’s long term preparatory program for the Copper Queens ahead of the Australia/New Zealand FIFA World Cup.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be staged from July 20 to August 20 in 2023.
Draws for the World Cup will take place in Auckland New Zealand on October 22, 2022.
“We are excited to announce that the Copper Queens will play Colombia next month during the FIFA Window in Cali. This is part of our long-term plan to help the Copper Queens prepare for the World Cup,” Kashala says.
“We have had a lot of suitors for friendly matches, and we would be very methodical in the choice of opponents. We are conscious that the draw will also influence the choice of our opponents in the period preceding the World Cup.”
Kashala says FAZ will go an extra mile to remove all the anticipated bottlenecks to actualize the friendly match.
Columbia is ranked 27th in the World and will be in Pot 3 for the draw while Zambia will be in Pot 4.
