Kanchibiya District Farmers Association (KDFA) chairperson Prince Mulenga has commended Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) for extending an invitation to the new organization to attend 116th National congress.
In an interview with Mpika FM, the chairperson said the congress was instrumental as it gave the organization an opportunity to interact with old members on how to run the newly formed DFA.
He disclosed that the ZNFU congress platform allowed the DFA to engage seed companies willing to provide services to small scale farmers in Kanchibiya district.
Mr. Mulenga stated that the organization had time to meet private companies who are already in business and willing to extend their businesses in the district.
The chairperson has also thanked the area member of Parliament Hon Sunday Chanda for the support and encouragement to ensure that the organization is formed and registered.
In a related development, the chairperson has since urged farmers in Kanchibiya district to register as members of the organization.
He explained that the main aim of the organization is to be the voice of Kanchibiya farmers in many aspects and to be a link between agriculture investments, projects via both government and non-governmental.
Mr. Mulenga has assured residents that very soon offices will shift from the current Member of Parliament office to Kanchibiya district to enable more farmers have access to the required services.
He urged village headmen and women to encourage their subjects to register as members. This is contained in a report published by Mpika FM.
