A marketeer from Batoka township market in Choma District has complained over lack of ablution facilities at the marketplace, saying the situation has resulted in women losing respect for their bodies.

Liseli Songiso tells Byta FM News that due to lack of toilets at the market, women urinate in public places, with some having to expose their private parts at the watch of passing onlookers.

Songiso complains that the only available ablution at the market is now full and not fit for use, explaining that each time one uses it, they come out stinking fecal matters.

She airs that women deserve to have their dignity preserved, hence the need for the local authority to construct decent toilet facilities.

And Market Secretary, Raeford Moono, says it is unfortunate that the Choma Municipal Council has continued to collect levies at the market despite not setting up toilets to make the place good for trading.

Moono feels the local authority must prioritise the health of traders and those that visit the facility especially that the rain season is nearing, to avoid the outbreak of water borne diseases.

Efforts are still underway to get a comment from the Choma Municipal Council.
