The UPND has won Mwense Mayoral Council Chairperson elections which were caused by the death of the previous Council Chairperson, Humphrey Kapapula of the PF.
In his declaration today, Mwense District Returning Officer, Samuel Mumba said Stephen Chikota of the UPND scored 11,313 votes.
Mr Mumba announced that the winner was followed by the PF candidate Charles Mwelwa who got 10,987 while Abel Mwewa of the Socialist Party (SP) and Chigomezgo Mkandawire of the Leadership Movement scored got 353 and 187 votes respectively.
