A RETIREE says the partial withdrawal of pension contributions under the new National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) reforms, if not properly managed, has the potential to leave more people destitute.

Recently, Cabinet approved, in principle, the introduction of a bill in Parliament to amend the National Pension Scheme Act number 40 of 1996 so as to provide members of the scheme an option to access part of the contributions before retirement.

Jacob Sikazwe, who is a retiree, said chances are high for one to misuse money if they do not have a plan and might result in the country producing a lot of poor people. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Daily Mail.
