Following the successful receipt of applications from those desiring to contest the position of Party President of the Patriotic Front, I wish to announce the next course of action;
1. The Central Committee will in accordance with the provisions of the Party Constitution meet on Saturday 26th November, 2022 to formally receive the names of all those that have applied and to set RULES OF ENGAGEMENT in order to ensure transparency, accountability, fairness and a level playing field for all applicants during campaigns.
2. The Central Committee will meet all the applicants to outline the said rules of engagement and ensure unity among all applicants and their respective supporters.
3. The Central Committee will formulate the campaign timetable and formally announce the date for the commencement of campaigns to ensure that campaigns are well-structured and devoid of accrimony in order to maintain unity within the Party, before, during and after elections.
4. The Central Committee will, in line with the provisions of the Party Constitution submit the names of all the applicants to the National Council.
5. In view of the above I wish to announce that all official campaigns will only commence formally after the announcement by the Central Committee.
6. I wish to clarify that Applications are NOT Nomination, thus all those that have applied to contest the elections will have to formally be nominated at the General Conference in line with the Party Constitution.
Lastly I wish to reiterate that our focus is to ensure unity within the Party, before, during and after the elections.
