The Ministry of Heath through the District Health Office, is undertaking the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in an effort to address the challenge of mosquitoes and ultimately, the resultant malaria.

Members of the public are reminded that the service is free of charge, and the exercise is targeted at sprayable households/structures. It is a must for spray operators to have Ministry of Health issued Identity Cards for ease of identification. The mobilisers make appointments a day before the spraying is done and allow for the house to be prepared to receive the intervention the following day.

Members of the public are therefore requested to ask for Ministry of Health identity cards from spray operators and no one must charge for the service.

In addition, the type of insecticide used by the Ministry of Health has a long residual effect which protects the household for a period of six to eight months after the spraying is done. This is important as other entities may not be using the correct insecticides and this can be harmful to household members and not have the required residual effect.

Members of the public, are therefore reminded of this guidance.
