Chief Chikaza Munyama of Ithezi Thezi district says society has gone quiet in raising awareness on HIV and AIDS

Chief Munyama believes that HIV may catch the young generation by surprise in the future as they are treating it as a normal thing due to lack of awareness.

“Nightclubs have mushroomed in rural areas which may lead to the spread of the disease”, he said.

Munyama says young people must strongly be educated on the negative impact of the virus and how it has affected the welfare of the nation.

He however emphasizes that stigma against those living with the HIV/AIDS should be discouraged,

Chikaza has since urged the Ministry of Health to increase HIV awareness among the youth who he says are very excited to try out new things in life. This is contained in a report published by Byta FM.
