(FAZ) Hundreds of Mtendere Township residents in Lusaka converged at New Leopards Hills Cemetery to bid farewell to Solwezi Queens Academy player Keira Saidi who died in a road traffic accident on Saturday in Mkushi.

Keira, who is originally from Lusaka, migrated to Solwezi to pursue her football dream.

She started her football career at her school in Mtendere and saw her dream nurtured from Chichilito, Chibelo and Twin Palm School.

Twenty-year old Keira was the last born in a family of eight and leaves behind a two-year-old daughter named Mapalo.

Lusaka Province chairperson Jordan Maliti represented FAZ president Andrew Kamanga.

Kamanga urged the family to remain united even in the face of adversity.

He also thanked government for having joined forces with FAZ to ensure that the bodies were repatriated to their respective destinations and evacuation of the critically ill.

Four players and an assistant coach died on spot when the Solwezi Academy Queens bus careered off the road enroute to a league match against Mpika Doves.

Meanwhile Solwezi Queens Academy representative Derrick Manda thanked FAZ for having played a critical role organizing logistics for the funeral.
