The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) joins the rest of the football family in mourning former Chipolopolo midfielder Francis ‘Koje’ Kasonde (not to be confused with 2012 AFCON winner).

Kasonde, who once served as Zesco Shockers coach was part of the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations in Mali under Roald Poulsen.

His career saw him play for Konkola Blades, Kabwe Warriors and Zesco United among other clubs.

He was also part of the 1999 Under-20 Zambia National Team that played at FIFA World Cup under Patrick Phiri.

The gifted midfielder’s funeral is being held in Lusaka’s Olympia Township.
