We have installed capacity of 3,456 megawatts.
Our peak demand is 2,300 megawatts.
Kariba power Station generates 1,080 megawatts.
Clearly Zambians are no supposed to be loadshedded as the country has enough power even with Kariba out….except we have power export commitments to fulfil to; Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, DRC, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe!
Suspend Power exports until March 2023 when the water levels in Lake Kariba normalise.
