The entire Kainzi village of 27 households under Chief Sandwe’s area of Lusangazi, Eastern Province, has been swept away by flash floods following continuous rainfall, sometimes torrential, experienced in the area.
Crop fields and livestock which included cattle and goats were also swept away by floods.
Lusangazi District Commissioner Mike Tembo, who visited the affected area, has described the situation as bad.
Mr Tembo says 27 families are now left without shelter.
At the same time, their crops and livestock were also collected by flash floods because the area has become inaccessible by motor vehicles. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Daily Mail.
