Former Chipolopolo defence Kingpin Stopilla Sunzu has donated football equipment and kit to his former club Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe.
The 2012 AFCON winner gifted his boyhood club some jerseys, balls, among others.
“It’s just a humble gesture to show appreciation to my former club. We should never forget where we are coming from. Konkola Mine Police like all other clubs I have played for mean a lot to me,” said Sunzu who scored the penalty that saw Zambia win the AFCON in 2012.
Konkola Mine Police President Gideon Mwenya who is also FAZ aspiring FAZ Presidential candidate was on hand to to receive the assorted football items.
Gideon Mwenya is the President of Konkola Mine Police Football Club, the team credited for producing the likes of Stopilla Sunzu, the former Chipolopolo defender who scored the AFCON -winning penalty in 2012.
Sunzu like many other football stars in the likes of Kabaso Chango, Mwape Musonda, Lazarous Kambole, Donashano Malama, Thomas Nyirenda, Julius Situmbeko, Mushili Chanda, Austin Muwowo, Aubrey Funga, Maybin Chishimba among others all trace their early football days to Konkola Mine Police, a Copperbelt-based side managed by Mwenya.This is contained in a report published Smart Eagles.
