President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the UPND Government is investing in an equal future for all without segregation.
President Hichilema says the inception of various empowerment programs demonstrates the UPND Government’s commitment to promoting an equal investment for everyone.
President Hichilema cites the payment of pensioners who had been waiting for their dues for a long time after diligently serving the country. In the 2022 National Budget, government allocated K2.1 billion to dismantle the outstanding arrears for retirees.
In the history of the country, President Hichilema says the country witnessed an unprecedented increase in the size of funding and scope of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). For the year 2022, CDF was increased from K1.6 to K25.7 million per constituency while being expanded to include additional components such as youth and women empowerment programs as well as secondary school bursaries that is now locally administered. The amount was further increased from K25.7 million to K28.3 million in 2023.
On social cash transfer scheme, the UPND Government added 400,000 beneficiaries to push the number towards 1.4 million.
The increase in the Social Cash Transfer Scheme and Food Security Pack Programme demonstrates government’s commitment in safeguarding people’s livelihoods.
And President Hichilema has assured citizens that his administration will continue working towards breaking barriers that negatively affect the wellbeing of the people.
The UPND Government has dedicated 2023 to accelerating development through transparency and stakeholder engagement in all sectors of the economy.
