A two weeks old baby in Choma’s Mubula Ward has died after allegedly falling from the mother’s hands at a drinking spree in the early hours of Saturday.
According to a report published by Byta FM, the woman identified as Natasha of Overspill Compound, is said to have accidentally caused the death of her baby in an incident that occurred at Neka Garden bar around midnight while drinking beer with her friends.
Police are yet to issue a statement over the matter but picked the body of the deceased infant and deposited it at the Choma General Hospital Mortuary.
With tears rolling on his face, father to the deceased, Gift Mutetwa, explained to a Byta FM News reporter that the baby fell from her mother’s hands and hit its head on a metal bar of a Braai-stand, after which the child died after being taken home.
And Mubula Ward Councilor, Navy Moonga, has condemned the behaviour of some women who have a tendency of drinking beer while carrying their babies. This is contained in a report published by Byta FM.
