The main suspect in the case a four-year-old girl was abducted has been arrested by police in Nakonde.
Obed Siame was arrested during dinner at his mother’s place around 19:00hrs on Sunday following a tip-off.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Kaunda Mubanga has confirmed the arrest.
The 24-year-old suspected is alleged to have abducted the girl for nine days before she was found tied up in natural fibre in a maize field on Saturday.
Hours before the child was found, police had already detained one suspect identified as Pethias Siame in connection with the case.
The victim was discharged from hospital with no physical injuries.
The baby told the father in an interview with Chete FM News that she was fed mangoes and cassava the entire time she was in illegal custody.
A further police investigation into the case is underway.
