USA-based defender Aime Mabika could officially make his Chipolopolo debut this month in the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho following the completion of the naturalisation process.
Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant is expected to name his squad for the back-to-back fixtures this week and Mabika could be summoned.
Zambia host Lesotho on March 23 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola and three days later travel to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the return leg.
Mabika was born in Zambia to Democratic Republic of Congo parents but the family moved to the USA when he was eight years old, hence losing his Zambian citizenship.
The towering defender expressed his willingness to play for Zambia and featured in the 3-1 win over Congo Brazzaville in Turkey last year in March where he partnered Scotland-based Frankie Musonda in central defence.
