(BBC) About 31,827 hectares was affected by army worms in Eastern Province.

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Paul Thole says the average infestation
rate on crops was over nine percent.

Mr. Thole says the impact of the army worm infestation in the region was mitigated by the heavy rains.

He says government also responded promptly by providing the chemicals.

He has however urged farmers who are still experiencing army worm infestation in their fields to report to District Agricultural Officers in their respective districts.
