(ZNBC) The 14- Seventh Day Adventist –SDA- Church members who drowned on Lake Bangweulu on Friday will be put to rest tomorrow, Monday.
This follows the retrieval of 13 – bodies by the Zambia Army marines, community members and the police.
Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu says government, the SDA Church and family members have agreed to bury the deceased in one place.
Mr Mpundu has told ZNBC News in Mansa that Government has already provided all the logistics for the mass funeral.
He said the Church service and burial proceedings will be conducted at once at the burial site.
The Permanent Secretary has thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for providing material and logistical support to the affected families.
He has also commended the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit for the quick response to the disaster.
Meanwhile the Seventh Day Adventist Church has thanked Government for the support rendered to the Church and the bereaved families.
SDA Luapula Province Conference President Pastor Teddy Kaunda says Government has provided all the material and logistical support to the affected families.
