A 30-year-old woman of Kkota-Kkota Ward in Gwembe District in Southern Province has died after being attacked by a crocodile while she was washing some kitchen utensils on the shores of Lake Kariba.
Area Councillor Edward Gama who has confirmed the death to Chikuni Radio News says the incident happened on Wednesday and has identified the deceased as Croudester Goga of Hamatuba area in Gwembe District.
Mr Gama says Ms Goga was alone at the time she was attack by the giant reptile as other family members are believed to have gone on different errands.
He discloses that the body of the deceased has since been retrieved from the lake awaiting and was buried immediately.
He says women in Hamatuba have to use the Lake for water because of lack of other sources water like hand pumps.
And Mr. Gama who has regretted the increasing cases of crocodiles in his ward has urged the Department of National Parks and Wildlife to urgently consider cropping the crocodiles in the area.
He discloses that many people have been attacked and killed by crocodiles within a short period and this has become a real danger to people.
