Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi says the Service is honoured to have been associated with the the coronation procession ceremony of King Charles III.
Lt Gen Solochi says the participation of three female Service personnel in the colourful procession was historical for ZNS as it also underlined his Command’s efforts to have a gender inclusive military institution.
The ZNS Commander has since committed the Service to maintaining the high standards of training to ensure Service personnel continued to represent the nation well in any military engagements whether at regional, continental or global stage.
He further stated that his establishment will continue to closely collaborate with other Sister Services to ensure the nation’s security and territorial integrity are safeguarded.
A Zambia National Service lady Officer and two Servicewomen were part of the thousands of members of the global military family that took part in the grand and colourful ceremonial procession of King Charles III’s coronation on Saturday in Westminster Abbey, England.
Lt Idah Liwyali, Ssgt Sylvia Kanyembo and Sgt Jesinala Banda formed part of the 400 marching party from Commonwealth nations.
The trio were among the ten Zambia Defence Force representatives.
The new King of England ascended to the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September last year.
This is according to a statement released by the Zambia National Service Chief of Marketing and Public Relations, Colonel Mable Nyone.
