A 50-YEAR-OLD man of Nabvutika Township in Chipata is on the run after allegedly stabbing his wife to death with a bottle following a dispute.Paul Banda is said to have had an argument with his wife that resulted in a fight and during the scuffle, he used a broken bottle to stab her.

Eastern Province police commanding officer Limpo Liywalii named the victim as Maureen Zimba, who was reportedly killed last week between Friday and Sunday.

“The deceased sustained a deep cut on her forehead and a swollen stomach before she died,” he said.

After the incident, the suspect fled the crime scene and police have launched a man-hunt for him.

Mr Liywalii cautioned community members, especially couples, not to resolve their disputes violently but, if possible, to engage other family members.
