THREE Health Workers in Southern Province have been arrested and charged by the Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC, for dealings involving K40,000.

Those arrested are Clement Tembo aged 49, of Bwacha Compound in Kalomo District, an Assistant Accountant at Kalomo District Health Office and Wilford Siamufunde, 42, of Riverside in Choma, a Senior Health Promotional Officer at Southern Provincial Health Office.

The other one is Mundia Muhau 44, of New Houses in Namwala, a Purchasing and Supplies Assistant at Namwala District Health Office.

ACC Head-Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono, explains that on dates unknown but between 1st January and 31st December, 2020 in Namwala District, the suspects, being public officers, did engage in corrupt practices by soliciting and receiving K40,000 cash gratification from Jonathan Zuhuli.

Moono says the money was meant as an inducement for them to facilitate the award of a contract worth K300,735 to supply building materials from Nicekel General Dealers, a transaction concerning the Namwala District Health Office.

He states that the trio have been released on bond and will appear in court.
