Residents of Kabushi Extension better known as KX woke up to a rude shock Monday morning, after the remains of a newly born baby were discovered dumped in a 5kg bucket of washing powder.

The semi-decomposing remains which were wrapped in a chitenge materia were discovered by members of the community who reported the matter to the police.

And confirming the incident to Lubuto Community News in a phone interview, Kafubu Ward Councillor James Banda says he is extremely saddened by the development.

“This is a very sad development and as Councillor I am working closely with the police to ensure that the culprit is found and brought to justice,” said Banda. “No one can hide a pregnancy. I am sure someone somewhere is aware of a woman who was pregnant these past months but has no baby right now. So I urge members of the community with such information to come forward.”

The remains which were picked by police have since been buried at Kantolomba Cemetery while a manhunt to bring the suspect to book has been instituted.
