A 60-year-old man of Mfumbwe district of North Western province has been beaten to d£ath for stealing a bag of maize.
Godfrey Kayuma was beaten to d£ath by Abel Nyamwana, who tied him to a tree with a r0pe and left him there after b£ating him.
North Western Province commanding officer Dennis Moola who confirmed the sad incident to Mwebantu said it occurred between Thursday, August 24 around 22:00 hours and Friday August 25th around 02:00 hours.
He said that the matter was reported to police by the daughter to the deceased.
Mr Moola said the deceased was found in a sitting position leaning on a tree and after thorough inspection of the body,it was noted that he was bleeding from the nostrils, had a bruised head, face and swollen right and left hands.
“Brief Facts of the case are that the victim was caught at the farm of the suspect with a one by 50 kg bag of maize that he stole from there. He was later tied with a rope to a tree by the suspect and was subsequently beaten to d£ath,” he said.
Mr Moola explained that the neighbourhood watch in the area were informed and later apprehended the suspect.
