A 29-year-old councillor of Kitwe’s Lubuto ward in Chimwemwe constituency, Peter Kapikila has been arrested for falsely obtaining more than K200,000 from 57 pupils.

The said councillor is believed to have obtained the money from Grade 12 and nine pupils who were supposed to write their General Certificate Education (GCE) at Make a Difference Academy (MADS), a private school which he owns.

Copperbelt Province commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said 57 dockets have been opened against him and it has been established that a total of K230,506 was falsely obtained.

He said the report was lodged on July 31st, this year.

“Mindolo Police Station received 57 cases of Obtaining money by false pretenses from grade twelves and grade nine’s pupils who were supposed to write their G.C.E at Make A Difference Academy (MADS) Private School owned by Peter Kapikila a councilor for Lubuto ward in Chimwemwe Constituency.”

“Police opened up 57 dockets against him and it was discovered that a Total amount of K230,506 was falsely obtained from them. The suspect, Peter Kapikila has been arrested toda and charged with 57 counts of Obtaining money by false pretenses,” he said.
