31 year old Carpenter of Ndeleka Village in Mweemba Chiefdom of Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, has been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment with hard labour for def!ling an 11 year old girl.
Appearing before Livingstone High Court Judge, Willy Sinyangwe, was Warren Muleya who stood charged with defilement contrary to Section 138 (1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia as amended in 2005 and 2011.
Byta FM Zambia Court Journalist reports that on 15th July, 2021, in Sinazongwe District, the convict had unlawful canal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 years.
According to Court Records, the victim was selling tomatoes when the accused approached her on the pretext of wanting to purchase her products, ushering the girl into the house so he could collect the money.
However, Muleya, upon entering his house with the girl is said to have squeezed her neck and threatened to k!ll her, as he was removing her skirt and underwear.
The victim testified in Court that she sustained bruises and severe bleeding from her private parts.
And when the matter came up for sentencing in the Livingstone high Court, Judge Sinyangwe slapped Muleya with a 17 years jail term after being found guilty.
