THE Food Reserve Agency-FRA, has paid out over One point Nine Billion Kwacha to farmers that delivered Grade A white maize during this year’s on-going crop-marketing season.

FRA Public Relations Coordinator, John Chipandwe, notes that the paid out amount is for the total quantity of maize purchased as at 25th September 2023.

He places the metric tonnage of maize supplied in the aforementioned period at 343,013.6, which is equivalent to over 6-million by 50 kilograms of the commodity.

Meanwhile, Chipandwe notes that following the Agency’s decision to start paying cash on the spot to farmers that supply maize, a total of 1,796.2 metric tonnes has been purchased, which is equivalent to 35,924 by 50 kilograms.

He has requested farmers that still have maize to deliver the stock to the nearest FRA depot and contribute in sustaining national food security.
