(ZNBC) The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has reported individuals to law enforcement agencies for not paying back dues on assets obtained under the youth empowerment programmes.
Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe says there are active investigations going on as reported in the 2022 Auditor General’s report.
He says assets that were obtained in 2021 are the ones that the Ministry has had the most challenge to recover.
Acording to ZNBC news, Mr. Chileshe said there are cases where hammer mills were bought for cooperatives and that these have not been traced but that the Ministry has names of people that applied for the empowerment.
And Mr. Chileshe said the Ministry is also repossessing assets from beneficiaries that obtained equipment but are NOT remitting funds to Government.
He said a team from the Ministry has been sent to various parts of the Country to look into the matter.
