In a devastating turn of events, a 15-year-old boy from Kankoyo Township in Mufulira District has tragically lost his life after an alleged shooting by Zambia National Services (ZNS) officers. The victim, Chrispin Bunda, a young student at Twampane Primary School, was fatally wounded during a confrontation.
Reports suggest that the incident unfolded when ZNS officers arrived in the township to seize smuggled mealie-meal from a shop suspected of being involved in the illegal trade. Local residents questioned their actions, and tensions quickly escalated. Eyewitnesses state that amidst the confusion, shots were fired, with one striking young Chrispin in the chest.
Heartbreakingly, the ZNS officers reportedly left the boy’s lifeless body at the scene, but hastily took away the confiscated mealie-meal. This shocking disregard for a precious life has left the community demanding justice.
The grieving father, Mr. Bunda, revealed that his son had innocently gone to purchase some groceries when tragedy struck. Equally distraught, Chrispin’s grandmother, Carol Chola, demands answers and accountability for this senseless loss.
We eagerly await an official statement from the police regarding this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking event.
Let us all join hands as a nation in seeking justice and ensuring incidents like these never occur again. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
