A 3-year-old boy from Choma’s Chandamali Compound has drowned in an unfinished soak-away located about 150 meters away from the parents’ house.
The incident which claimed Bernard Hamukululwe’s life happened Friday.
In responding to a Press Query from Byta FM, Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, states that mother to the deceased, Jessica Siamaalube, left the boy playing at the neighbour’s house with his friend around 09:00 hours.
Daka explains that when she returned from where she had gone after 12 in the afternoon, Siamaalube noticed that her child was missing and in the company of her husband, Chabota, opted to report the matter to Choma Police Station as a case of a missing person.
He says on their way back home, the two parents received information that the deceased was seen d£ad in an unfinished soak-away nearby home.
Daka adds that Police Officers visited the scene, noting that no physical injuries were seen on the deceased, with the remains now deposited at Choma General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
