In line with the directive from the Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, to combat food insecurity, 4 Infantry Battalion Commander Colonel Patrick Chingoma has urged Officers and Soldiers to show a strong interest in farming projects.

Col Chingoma said this when he inspected works at the 4 Infantry Battalion Unit Army Farm in Chipata.

Col Chingoma said agriculture plays a vital role in the military as it provides the necessary resources to sustain troops in both hostile and remote environments.

Apart from its main focus on farming, the unit has also ventured into piggery and poultry, with plans to soon expand into fish farming.

The Battalion Commander expressed gratitude towards Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi, and Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Maybin Muyanga, for their continuous support towards these projects.

These initiatives not only benefit the Officers, Soldiers, and their families but also contribute to the economic growth of Zambia.
