Police in Lundazi District have recovered a vehicle for Indo Zambia Bank Branch Manager and cell phones stolen by suspected armed robbers.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba told Breeze FM News that suspected armed robbers on Tuesday around 18:40 hours attempted to rob the Bank, but that the mission was NOT successful as the Vault was locked.

The suspected robbers armed with a pist0l and mach£tes gained entry into the bank after tying up an unarmed security guard and found bank officials conducting business in the bank, among them the branch manager.

However, the keys to the vault were not with the bank officials who were present during the attempted robbery with Mr Mweemba adding that no property has been lost except two laptops.

Mr. Mweemba further stated that the five robbers stole two laptops and two cell phones from bank officials and fled the scene with a vehicle belonging to the bank manager.

He said the vehicle was found abandoned within Lundazi District and that no arrest has been made, but that investigations have been launched.
