The Zambia Police Service has arrested six individuals in connection with the dèath of 51-year-old George Kalaba, whose skeletal remains were discovered in his house in Luangwa – Garden Compound on January 14, 2025.

The case was initially reported at Emmasdale Police Station by Emmanuel Kalaba (55), the deceased’s elder brother. Following thorough investigations, police have formally charged the following suspects:

  1. Sylvia Mutoba (51) – Wife of the deceased
  2. Preteria Mbandama Musela (44)
  3. Wendy Kalaba (27)
  4. Sandra Kalaba (22)
  5. Natasha Kalaba (19)
  6. A 15-year-old female juvenile

All six suspects, who are residents of Luangwa – Garden Compound, have been charged with mânslaughtèr (contrary to Section 199 of the Penal Code Act) and concealing a dèath (contrary to Section 9 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act). They remain in police custody and will appear in court soon.

Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga assured the public that investigations into the circumstances surrounding Kalaba’s death are ongoing, emphasizing that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
