A Chipata Central Hospital nurse has testified in the Chipata Magistrates’ Court that some officers guarding former Petauke Central MP Emmanuel Banda appeared drunk at the time of his escape.
Testifying in a case where five police and correctional officers, along with Banda’s wife, Lombe Chali, are charged with aiding his escape, Registered Nurse Carol Daka stated that one officer was so intoxicated he could barely walk.
She added that she even asked the officers to stop making noise.
Ms. Daka further testified that at the moment of Banda’s escape, she heard a loud bang from his ward.
