A 30-year-old woman has died nearly three months after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her husband in Kaluwani Village, Sinda District.
Judith Mwale sustained severe injuries during the reported attack on November 10, 2024, and succumbed in the early hours of Tuesday, February 12, 2025.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, Ms. Mwale had been admitted to the intensive care unit at St. Francis Mission Hospital since November.
Despite months of medical care, she remained in critical condition, unable to speak or see.
Her husband, Masauso Njobvu, who had been detained at Katete Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful wounding, will now face upgraded charges of murder.
Burial for the deceased is scheduled for Friday, February 14, 2025, in Kaluwani Village.
