Ngabwe Town Council has dismissed claims that boiling contaminated fish for four to five hours makes it safe to eat.
Ngabwe Town Council Public Relations Officer Christopher Habukali says this follows some narrative being circulated by certain unscrupulous individuals which he described as false, misleading, and a serious risk to public health.
Mr. Habukali reiterated that consuming contaminated fish or any other water products from the Kafue River remains hazardous.
He has urged the public to refrain from consuming fish or any other water products from the Kafue River.
Meanwhile, Mr. Habukali says the District Health Director, Dr. Vincent Mwila, confirmed that three individuals have been treated for abdominal pains after consuming contaminated fish.
Mr. Habukali has advised the residents against drinking water from the river, saying residents should seek alternative water sources for both household use and livestock.
